Plutarch said that ” Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks.”
Recently I just fell in love with poetry, so I created 10 pieces of Persian Princess portraits based on 10 of my favorite poems by 10 poets.
“I like for you to be still/It is as though you are absent /And you hear me from far away /And my voice does not touch you /You are like my soul/A butterfly of dream/And you are like the word: Melancholy” –PABLO NERUDA
“She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that’s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes; Thus mellowed to that tender light Which heaven to gaudy day denies.” –LORD BYRON
“my loneliness is a garden, where there is only one tree. “–ADUNIS
“Had I not seen the Sun / I could have borne the shade / But Light a newer Wilderness / My Wilderness has made — ” –EMILY DICKINSON
“Eyes are raining for her/him, heart is holding an umbrella for her/him, this is love.”-TAGORE
“But silently, in time of anguish /Pronounce my name softly while grieving /Say that my memory won’t vanish /That there’s a heart in which I’m living……” –ALEXANDER PUSHKIN
“Dar’st thou amid the varied multitude / To live alone, an isolated thing?/ To see the busy beings round thee spring/ And care for none; in thy calm solitude/ A flower that scarce breathes in the desert rude/ To Zephyr’s passing wing?”–PERCY SHELLEY
“The caged bird sings /with a fearful trill /of things unknown/ but longed for still/ and his tune is heard / on the distant hill /for the caged bird / sings of freedom.” –Maya Angelou
“Everyman is two men; one is awake in the darkness, the other asleep in the light. I am the flame and I am the dry bush, and one part of me consumes the other part. “–KAHLIL GIBRAN
“Come play with me /Why should you run/Through the shaking tree /As though I’d a gun /To strike you dead?/ When all I would do /Is to scratch your head /And let you go.” –W.B.YEATS
